Default The 'missing' hose under the alternator?

Hi all, first post, 2nd Ford, but a total newbie.

I was wondering if you could tell me what this is just under the alternator of a 1987 F150 4.9L. Seems to me like it's missing a hose.

Should go to a check valve that goes on the fenderwell, best to put something there such as running a hose to the top of the fenderwell to keep dirt from being sucked in and possibly siezing the pump.

Air injection reactor? Have heard it called alot of names here in the states, I think thats local terminology. Above member answered it correctly. Smog pump and goes to a thing-a-ma-bob. BTW, have seen lots, just as yours is, open to atmosphere, perhaps an elbow or filter to keep contaminents out.

I got the term here - http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/full.aspx?Page=45
and from googling some parts endlessly, I'm having thoughts that LMC have names of their own.

Ok, thanks a lot guys for the help. Appreciate it.
