misfire, bogs down, check engine light is on
Ok this is what i have 1994 ford f150 2 wheel drive club cab with the 302 engine and automatic overdrive tranny. typically this truck is only used in the summer to pull a boat, which it does VERY well btw. my daily driver got creamed so i have been driving the truck the past few days. all of a sudden it started to misfire in overdrive. i gave it gas and it backfired through the intake you could hear it popping i gave it more and all of a sudden it just took off and it seemed to smooth out. as i began to deaccelerate the problem came back. at idle sometimes it runs smooth and sometimes you have to hold the gas to keep it from stalling. one thing remains the same wether you are moving or sitting in park when it begins to dog down if you gas it, it straitens out. another constant is the check engine light comes on after you drive a while and never goes out but when you shut down and restart it doesnt come back on for sometimes 30 minutes. also it seems to run FINE when its cold but as it warms up it gets worse. i changed the cap, rotor and wires. i pulled the codes and tried to figure out what they were pointing at but to be honest its late im tired and i got nowhere. there were a bunch of codes, all over the damn board i will post them tommorow. they were as i recall egr not opening, some air system not functioning, a 212 spout system error, an overdrive error. tommorow i am going to wipe the codes and redo them and post. i tried unplugging stuff to see if it made a differance so perhaps many of the codes are my own fault lol .
i would try checking the timing - mine was set at 26 BTDC (SPOUT out) and would bog, sputter, misfire. Set it back to 12 and it smoothed it out. So thats an easy check if you have a timing light and wire brush to see your marks.
The revving is setting it back to the (correct me if I'm wrong here) advanced timing which is around 33-38(?) SPOUT in. Once I had the timing correct then my code 213 (SPOUT) went away

Check to see if your spout plug is in. Then check timing w/ spout out. Then do the KOEO scan, which will get you your continuous memory codes too. List the codes separately, denoting which they are.
Sorry I know this thread is old but I need help ASAP. I have a 1997 F250 w/ 460 and 5 speed that is doing the exact same thing the OP described. I also have a 212 code for spout signal loss. To the OP: did you ever fix the problem? What did you do? PLEASE HELP!!
