Default mechanical temp gauge

i'm thinking about installing a temp gauge on my truck, my question is where on the engine should i install the probe for the gauge? can i put it in the stock sender location? i have a 89 5.0, thanks ahead of time

There may be ports elsewhere, but the factory spot is fine too. Just don't remove the one for the computer, remove the gauge one.

Go to Home Depot, go to irrigation aisle, get a gray nylon fitting they use for sprinklers, get a 5\8 barb x 1\2 female thread (in center of fitting) x 5\8 barb, 2 hose clamps, find convenient part of heater hose, say around throttle body, cut heater hose, fit hose over barbed ends, clamp, take 1\2" adapter from gauge kit, Teflon tape the adapter, thread into tee, not too tight or tee will crack, after routing the probe, install probe. This is how I do it on all my vehicles. Works well.
