Default Manual trans question

What years had hydraulic clutches? I want to put a 5 speed in my 92 truck and I am wondering what year trannies will work, I know all the rest of the process and tech stuff and what will fit and not, just not sure of trans itself, I havn't played around with the newer stuff, post 1986, I have alot of 87-91 trucks in my area with man trannies cheap, and if an 87-91 trans will work. .

I have a 93 F150 thats my parts truck. It has the 300 6 cylinder in it with a 5 speed tranny. It has a hydraulic clutch just like my 96 F-150 does.

My '87 had the TOD 4 speed and I put in the M5OD 5 speed. It was offered from '88-'96 and has the hydraulic concentric slave cylinder design. I'm told the '92-'96 is stronger than the '88-'91. '88-'91 has a spot for a mechanical speedometer while '92-'96 does not (but can be adapted), but 4x4 trannys that doesn't matter because the speedometer would be on the transfer case.

one point for you on a man tranny in a f150. you can use a man tranny from 87 to 96, the 502 and the 300 have the same tranny. the nice thing about the older ones is the slave is on the outside. However if you are switching from a auto to a manual you will need a 5.0L flywheel. They are balanced diffrent and may give you a vibration.
