Low Voltage at Fuel Pump

Low Voltage at Fuel Pump
Hi all,
This is my first post and would appreciate any input. I have a 93 f150 straight 6, long bed, manual trans, 2wd, dual tanks.
Here's the issue, Last saturday i started the truck and was sitting at idle when all of a sudden it just turned off. (as if i turned the ignition off) So i turn the key to KOEO and noticed that i didnt hear the fuel pump prime like always. (BTW, i only use the front tank) so i switched the switch to the rear tank and didnt hear that pump prime either. Fuel pump fuse is good, i changed the relay out for ****s and giggles too. Now when i take a voltage reading at the fuse i get around 12 volts, but when i take a reading at the connector on the fuel tank, (red and black wire) im only getting a tad bit over 5volts. I checked a wiring diagram and found an inerta switch. when i take a reading there i'm only getting 5volts too...
So im guessing only 5volts obviously isnt enough to prime the fuel pump. what im asking is, where do i go next?
Sorry for the book, it's just the frustration coming out.
Thanks for any and all input.

well for the record, i ended up putting a computer in the truck i got from a junk yard and now the truck starts right up. just thought this would help anyone searching for help with a similar problem.
