Default loose steering

after new ball joints & an alignment, the steering is still a bit loose with 1-2" of play in the steering wheel. I've been told there's a screw on the power steering pump that can be tightened to remove that play, is that good advice or was someone having fun at my expense? Thanks!

you can tighten it. i recommend you buy a haynes type repair manual. dont overtighten or you can put accessive wear on the steering box. also, its pretty normal for these trucks to have play in the wheel

yeah, I'm used to my civic, things are quite a bit tighter there I have the Chilton's manual, do I need to go get the Haynes as well?

any idea what the name of that screw is? I see a sector shaft adjusting screw on the diagrams, only thing that looks suggestive

figured I would ask... the name seemed too involved to be something as simple as "the screw that tightens/loosens the steering"
