Default Locked up

All but one of my tires will move. My passenger rear tire refuses to move. I used my parking brake a few days ago and it didn't fully unlock until I drove about 20 feet. Then today, I felt that it was still grabbing a bit, so I pushed in the parking brake and released a few times to see if that would unlock it. I'm not 100% sure if that the parking brake is at fault right now, but it is a great factor and the only thing that comes to mind, since my brakes haven't had a problem, since the tiny leak.

We have been getting cold snaps here, with -6º to -23ºCelcius and I forgot not to use my parking brake while it's this damn cold out, but it slipped my mind when parking on an incline.

Oh ya, one key factor in this is, that I can go in reverse just fine and it will roll along, but once I put it in 1st, it won't budge.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Also, keep note that the truck isn't in my driveway right now, it's parked out at my dads on the highway.

Not sure I can help diagnose the problem, but I don't think it's your e-brake if the wheel turns freely in reverse. Could be axle related, maybe?

Probably is the E-brake. Reverse is geared lower than first.

But I should at the very least hear a clunk or grind if the axle is going, shouldn't I? I had a squeal in the rear passenger before, when I got the truck, then I took off the tire and used brake cleaner on the drum and it got rid of it, it wasn't the bearings, because I checked those first, then figured dust was making it do that, after that it never squealed at me again.

If it is the E-Brake, then what I would I be able to do to get it to unlock tomorrow? It's my DD and these cold snaps aren't good walking.

Cut the cable. As close to the backing plate as possible. See if you can get the drum off, if the brake is stuck it will be very difficult.

Sounds to me like you have a frozen cable to that wheel and the truck will roil in reverse with this problem.what you can try is heat the whole cable going to that wheel with a torch while taping the cable with a small gamer. If it is frozen it will free up and your on your way. Just don't get close to any fuel lines

I have a torch and a hammer. I can do this.

Sean, do you have any more ideas? I'd like to keep it simple and cutting the lines isn't simple enough for me, yet. For some reason, every mechanic and brake shop is closed on Sundays, so if I mess up, I won't be able to take her in until Tuesday; every shop I've called is booked until then, even Ford.

sometimes when the E-Brake cable is stuck you can get a skinny screwdriver in the Adjuster slot in the backing plate and tap the e-brake lever back enough to take the force off the brake.

The cables on these years are pretty nice. they are plastic coated inners so they dont rust and bind. At least mine are. I didnt use my E-brake for over 4 years and as a matter of fact i totally un-hooked it as in the "Rust-Belt" they are known for sticking. I decided I needed mine and I hooked it up and it works like butter. so i use it all the time now.

Mostly hooked it back up as the engine wont hold it now on an incline when its in gear....too much leak down

Thanks, I'll try that as well, just waiting for a ride out to my dads now.
