Default Lock troubles

So my truck is a 95 f150 xlt with power locks and windows...buuuut the locks dont work. My problem is the wont unlock. i can lock them no problem but i cant unlock them. i lost the key fob so i cant electrically do it and even the key doesnt unlock it although it will lock it. i have pulled the door panel before and the clips on the lock cylinder are fine or else it wouldnt lock. Somebody will probably say actuators and i will get them some day but they are expensive and for now i just want to be able to unlock my doors without reaching my arm through the side window and pulling the door handle. when i was looking at the linkages what looked like to me was the linkage hooked to the lock cylinder would go down when i locked it but when i turned the key for unlock it wouldnt catch the linkage that hooks to the door peice to actually unlock the door. i know it sounds confusing but the linkage which hooks to the lock cylinder comes up when i goto unlock the door but it doesnt seem to pull the other linkage up enough to unlock it. it looks like theres a yellow clip there that should catch the linkage on the lock cylinder to pull the other linkage up but it doesnt catch... i can take pictures if it would help

The cheapest, and probably easiest, would be to go to a junk yard and pull the mechanism out and swap it with yours. It sounds like it may have been slim-jim'ed one to many times.

What do you mean the whole mechanism? like the linkages or the whole shebang like the door latch that keeps the door shut?

Just the linkage, pop the clip off of the lock cylinder, the lock, and whatever else. Something is probably just bent but can't say without comparing it to a working set.

For what it's worth (http://www.justanswer.com/ford/4a2g7...side-door.html) this gives a pretty comprehensive diagram to the door lock setup.
