Default Let's play name that part...

The wire that goes to this coil looking thing is broke off.

Now, I've been having my stalling problem lately and have noticed that my fuse for the TFI is burning out. Fuse #17 in the underhood power dist. box and it's a 20AMP maxi fuse. I've temporarily replaced the fuse with a 30A since it was the only one I had, but it's been working so far (LOL).

So, my question is, what is that part? Would it cause an excess current in the wires that would cause the fuse to be constantly burning up?

Horrible picture, how about a clearer one? Also, what engine are we looking at / where in the engine bay?

Sorry guys, that's the best I can do with my craptacular cell phone camera

It's a 5.0L, and it's attached to the coil bracket. It has one wire going into it, which comes off the harness for the coil itself. It appears to be some sort of resistor or something like that.

The end of the wire is now frayed and corroded, so it's been this way for some time.

theres 2 wires in the harness to the coil then theres a 3rd wire that comes out of the same harness that is red then goes to a gray connector and comes out black, then into a round piece of metal (bout the size of a dime) that's appears to be full of like foam the whole round/foam filled thing is mounted to the bracket of the coil. my guess is some kind of resistor to ground. i don't have a camera just described the one on my truck.

Can you take a pic later / maybe borrow a camera? Thanks

Do the same angle, just back up a foot. You might as well have your finger over the lens. You can always mod it in a Pic program afterwards. It's pics like this, that got all that UFO crap started! "Well, wud it look like ta you Wilber? Not sure, but thar it wus, sittin rite thar inma engine com-part-ment! Maybe pull that "Alien Tentacle" out of the way first, before the next shot!

Correct. That's the part I'm looking at.

Let me see if I can dig up some better pics online that would show what I'm talking about...
