Default Leak drivers side

I am trying to find the leak that causes driver side floor carpet to get wet. After removing the carpet, i pointed a hose at the windscreen and found a small trickle of water in the footwell. I have now removed windscreen trim, and the windscreen wiper cowl. If i point the hose down the aperture nearest the camera in pic1, again i get water inside. On the passenger side, there is a cover over this aperture (pic 2) but it just blocks access to the drain channel below. Seems unlikely to be the culprit, but not sure how to get access any further down. Anyone got any bright ideas about what to try next?
Thanks

Just tried covering up the aperture with duct tape and pointing hose at windscreen edges. Still getting water down below, right in the furthest left corner of driver side footwell

take some talc powder and heavily dust the whole area....then spray from the outside...you should easily see the trickle or moisture running through the powder and you can then trace it back to it's origin.

It's almost certainly coming through a cut in the original w/s sealant, behind the later sealant holding the current w/s in. Click this, read the caption, and the NEXT few:

My guess would be your windshield seal too - usually the biggest culprit for that type of leak in these trucks.

Welll, a cracked windscreen gave me the chance to replace it. Tested again afterwards and the leak was still there. I had another poke around a couple of weekends ago, and behind the wheel arch on the drivers side there is a 4" x 2" approx aperture plugged by a strange-shaped piece of rubber. The rubber, aperture and space behind were completely blocked up with mud. I dug around in there to remove the mud and (fingers crossed) it seems to have fixed the leak.

If you can, please post some photos of what you found! I've been annoyed with the same water leak in my truck for years and always thought it was the windshield. I want to try anything I can before having to get a windshield pulled/replaced

I should have taken photos, but unfortunately didn’t. If you remove the wheel arch lining on the drivers side and then look back towards the cab you should see it. I presume it is the bottom of a drain from somewhere and the rubber thing is an attempt to let the water out and prevent mud getting in. It is a bit fiddly but straightforward
