If I do a leak down test how will be able to tell if it is the head or gasket?

according to flareside thunder, the leak down test would help with oil in the water: https://www.f150forum.com/f10/uh-oh-aint-good-43697/

EDIT - this might be more helpful: http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...down_Test.aspx

Do you run the engine when it is hot or cold because I was reading the mobiloil link and it said to remove the radiator cap before testing, but if your running a hot engine coolant is going to go everywhere becasue of the pressurized system?

Remove cap before, then allow it to reach operating temp. Keep your foot of the gas pedal! Just like if you were burping the coolant system.

if you are getting water in teh exhaust while running (steam from teh rad water or anti-freeze) and/or water in the oil...and the radiator loses water enough it needs refilled constantly just pull the head...

I mean if you run anti freeze in the system and it clouds out the exhaust while running or the oil gets milky chances are it isnt the block...it is either the head or the gasket...

just pull the head and find out...there is NO need to run test to find out which when you have to pull it to fix the issue anyways...it just cost more time than need be...

once you pull the head you will know from water tracking where the leak is caused from...
