Default KOER 44 code

On my 1990 f150 302. I pulled the codes and got error 44 code. So this is the Air pump is inoperative i believe. Anyway so I went inspecting around lines going into and out of the air pump and foundnd a broken hose. It runs between the 2 catalytic converters and its a rubber hose thats basically disenagrated. I think this is the cause to my code. But does anyone know what this rubber hose is for or called?

Thanks Guys!

The computer only "sees" the control solenoids. That's the only way it can tell if it's working. The hose isn't the problem.

Okay do you think not having that hose would give me any other engine problems? Like could I just leave it be or should I get it replaced?
