If you do this, you might as well do away with your egr and cat's too.
Right now I still have EGR but cat is coming off & I am going to put a flow master.. Should sound real nice.. I hope...HEHE

I cut my cats out and put in glasspacks to dumps. It sounds pretty good as far as the 4.9's go.

There is nothing wrong with the way my belt is ran. There is the same amount of force on the alternator as before except more of the belt touches the pulley.

^ I'd agree with that. The tensioner is going to put the same amount of tension on the entirety of the belt no matter where the pulleys are located and how much the pulleys make contact. And if that much difference wears out your alternator, you needed a new one anyhow.

The force against the pulley you are speaking of is called friction and is a good thing, I don't have to worry about the alternator slipping.

I'm still running that belt. It's actually brand new but got thrown a few times. Took me a while to figure out it was the power steering pump doing it.

The belt is just an 800k5 now But yea I have no problems and I have the same belt setup. If the alternator pulley and bearings are in good shape to begin with you shouldn't have any problems with this setup.
