well I would be more worried about the dog jumping out after a squirel then a kid falling out haha. when i was a kid i was in the back of a truck all the time hell i remember crawling through the rear window too!
I tried all the sets of seats i got and the ones that stick out the least are the mustang seats because they fold down far below the bed rails. the other ones stick out way to much for a practical use for my taste. I might look into an old bench seat there quite abundant around here. get some marine vynal and re upholster it up nice and water resistant.

Here's an example of the one I was talking about.
http://bedryder.com/

I guess it's.no different than riding in a convertible. I've considered bed seats, but my tool box is more important and I'd want the seats right up against the cab for safety. You never know....I just worked a roll over wreck about an hour ago. A small car crossed center and an suv hit it driver's corner to driver's corner. The suv climbed over the driver's side fender of the small car and flipped onto it's roof. Almost a perfect movie stunt. Both had minor injuries and fortunately it was a low speed collision. Maybe 35mph. Just so many other idiots on the road to worry about hurting someone in my pickup bed in a non - certified setup. Someone else's fault could get you sued and you'd certainly be responsible. Not knocking you, I just see so much of that crap on this job.

thanks for the link! that looks easy to fabricate too by the way lol i guess getting something DOT apporved might be an issue however i did own a car that was part Chevy part ford soo not all to worried.

I do agree for the safety however I hardly think i will be using the seats for hauling my buddy's around considering we normally just follow each other 90% of the time. (some friends own chevys) im thinking more or less if i build something like this I would want it to be safe enough that I wouldn't mind riding in the back. the only worries is the roll over issues and I know a bed bar wont do much same with a cap other then splinter into tiny fiberglass shards.... I do not like to half *** things

Around here only people in the front seats must be buckled up, and minors.

Well In Maine we have frost heaves that can jettison cargo out the back of your truck so i guess its for the better. I know theres a few states that dont give a crap.

yeah it sucks i do not feel that laws should be made to protect idiots. let them learn the hard way it would help out society a heck of a lot more then protecting them.

dont get me wrong ive done some stupid **** but honestly i think i can hang out back on a seat i bolted to the floor.

Back to my idea I'm thinking of getting a rear seat from a wagon there's one out in the feild across the way and im welcome to the parts
