Default I've got a bad prob.....

I have a 1989 300 straight six and it won't start. All I did was shut it off at the gas station and tryed to start it once I got back in the truck and all it would do is turn over. It wouldnt even sputter. SO then I took my fuel filter off to see if it was clogged again, and it was, so I went to the parts store and got a new one. THen I just placed the new one on there and it did the same thing. Wouldn't even fire. So I got it towed home that night and checked it for spark and it gets spark. Its like it isn't getting fuel to the cylinders. Is there a sensor or somehting that went out?

Does the fuel pump do its 1-2 second prime when you roll the key to ON?

Offhand, suspecting that if you have verified spark, thinking a possible fuel pump failure - or maybe the fuel pump relay or the inertia switch have faulted.

fuel pump turns on and shoots fuel out when I take the fuel filter off. And it seems pretty strong. I am going to go out and play with it some......Any feed back would be appreciated......

ok....my bad....I checked the fuel pump one more time and no fuel came out. I undid the fuel line that conected to the high pressure fuel pump to see if fuel came out of the pump in the tank and nothing came out...But the high pressure pump still comes on. So I am sure its the fuel pump in the front tank. The back tank is gummed up and disconected because it clogged filter daily to the owner before me. So my next quesion is how hard it would be to remove the rear tank completely, and only run the fornt one with a new fuel pump.
