Default Intermittent wiper issue

I have a long standing problem with my intermittent wipers on my 87 f150 which I admit know very little about this option.I Put the wiper control in intermittent position and the wipers work exactly as they do in the "constant slow" position. Doesn't matter where I rotate the control, they work as non intermittent wipers. I believe I do hear a relay clicking in rhythem with the wipers. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Is the switch's ground wire connected to a reliable grounding point?

I haven't dug into it yet but I will check that ground connection first.

The switch stalk is just a steel shaft. If it moves the switch at all, it doesn't need to be replaced.
