Default Instrument cluster question

I recently picked up a 95 F150 and would like to swap out the instrument cluster to the one that has the tach, is this just a plug and play job? My truck was produced 8/95, (not sure why it wasn't deemed a 96) Do I need to look for a cluster from a 96? Or does it matter?

Thanks

Jeff

is your truck OBDII? it being that close to 96 there is a small chance it could be.

My truck was made in 8/95 as well and its a 96 model year. 94 to 96 cluster should be plug and play.

Go to carpart.com. Used parts and see what years they show to be interchangeable. Seems like when I looked 96 was all by itself for fitment.

I was going to call you wrong... but thinking about it, that seems correct.

96 F150 and 96/97 F250 or F350.

Where is the plug in? I have an OBDII reader, but I cant find it under the drivers side dash? What does the OBDI plug in look like?

the OBDII plug is just to the right of the transmission hump on the bottom lip of the dash. the OBDI plug is in the engine bay near the drivers side hood spring.
