Default Installation Questions!

I have a 93 F150, 4x4. I plan on buying a 1.5 inch rough country leveling kit so I can fit them 33's. Does anyone know how difficult this is to install themselves, or a general price to have a shop do it? (Or if theres a better brand/option).

Also, I got a remote start from my grandparents as they do not want or need it, and I'm not sure if these trucks can have these installed, or if it is difficult to do yourself/shop do it.

Sorry for the jumbled mess of words here I just got the truck back from getting a new trans and I'm trying to get her all buttoned up.

The lift is fairly simple, you could even do like others have done (including myself) and just get moog 824 springs, that will bring the front close to level with the back.

I installed a remote starter that included door lock/unlock. Took about a half hour of actual installation. Super simple if you can follow the directions. What brand/model?

Hmm, cool. I like the rough country brand as my friends have them and seem great, but I'll look into moog.

I wasn't sure about the work itself, didn't think it would be too bad. I can't remember the brand, its like crimestopper or something weird. I'll check in a bit.

Make sure you check out the website, the one I used had vehicle specific wiring diagrams that gave the color/location of each wire to be used.

In case yours doesn't here is the one from mine, just select ford, find F-series, it'll be the 87-93 option.

Okay, I found it. Its a crimestopper (Google crimestopper cool start), But I cannot find the model on their site... I have one with 2 key fobs that unlock/lock/start but that doesn't seem to be an option on the website lol... I will delve into the box when I get home.

It may be a Rs900 or a Rs1304 - both look similar - it has 2 fobs, has lock/unlock/start/4th button that I cannot remember. Although this is all off memory so I may be wrong.. Hah!

It is a Coldstart (crimestopper) Rs4. Has 4 buttons and second car button on side. Unlock/lock on top, and start and pop trunk on bottom.

Looked through the directions and you should be able to just follow the directions and use the wiring diagram I linked to set everything up. I didn't need to use relays with mine, but it looks like you may need to get a couple relays to wire up the lock/unlock because they are reverse polarity locks. Best place to get relays are from a junk yard or pull a part place, usually under a buck and they are better quality than something you would pay $15 for at the auto parts store. Just grab off of the newest vehicle you can find, makes no difference what kind, 95% of relays used on cars/trucks/vans are 30/40amp bosch style relays, just check the relay to verify but you shouldn't have any problems locating them on the first vehicle you try.

I didn't hook up the tach feature on mine and haven't had any issues, I just didn't want to run more wire to the engine bay, same reason I left out the auto kill feature for when the hood is raised (don't know if yours has that or not).

Hmm. Thanks! I may be retarded though because I cannot find the link for the 87-93 year.

after you click ford, go to the F Series tab, not the F150 tab (that's 97 and newer), it's between the fusion and freestyle tabs, click the -87-93- link.
