Default input shaft issue????

trying to put the block in my truck and i cant get it to line up with the input shaft. i am using longer bolt to pull the engine onto the input shaft but wont work cause the bottom of the flywheel is still out by 2in no matter what i am doing. is their anything that will make it easy or that i am doing wrong? i thought that the input shaft whould just slide right on.

If you removed the clutch you need an alignment tool when you put it back on so the shaft will slide through and into the pilot bearing. If that's lined up then sometimes you need to rock the tranny to line up the splines and make sure it's going in straight with the engine or it will bind.
