Thatll be first for sure. I know the effects of bad gas. I also just realized the truck is a 89, not a 87. I got a pic coming of it shortly. The truck is acually is better shape than I thought. Clear caot is peeling, headliner is falling out, and seat needs covering. One ofthe present owner had the front end rebuilt, as he calls it, 4 years ago before he parked it.

UPDATE!! Truck is now home!!! Just spoke with the guy I bought it from. This is the history as he knows it. Truck was running fine, but would cut off when it got warmed up, and would also run hot just before shut down. The guy he bought, his BIL it from only worked less than 2 miles from where he lived, so he continued to drive it until he got his DUI, then it was parked. The guy I got it from was told by one of his "work buddies" that something in the distributor was bad, dont recall excatly what part he said he replaced now, but he could not get it to start afterwards. He suspects the timing is off, or he didnt put the wires back on right, but got tied up with other things and just left it. So, I think I can get the distributor back in time pretty easily, but what could cause it to shut down when it gets hot? I suspect the running hot to be a dirty rad, since it looks like it hasnt been flushed in years. If I can get the cutting off part nailed down, Im pretty sure this will be a good truck.

once you get that figured out, it wouldn't hurt to throw some seafoam in it seeing as it was sitting for so long

The inj. are probably the originals, and last I saw the truck it had around 250000 miles on it. I know it sat for about 3 years, but I was told by my step-sister the current owner did get it running, but it wasnt running good at all.
i bought my truck from a nice guy to, but still an idiot none the less lol

Getting warmed up then shutting off? Sounds like a bad TFI module to me.....IIRC those are mounted on the side of the dizzy.

That has been repalced along with what the guy is calling the coil pickup, and the coil. It was at this point he couldnt get it back running. He thinks either he had run the plug wires wrong, or he has the distributor on or 2 teeth off.

I am considering replacing all the fuel injectors in my 1990 5L f-150. I have a problem with it loading up after I cut it off and it will flood and will not start until you have let it sit for a long period of time. It is as if the injection system is leaking into the engine via the injectors. I have seen this in an old Cummins Diesel but only suspect this right now in this gas engine.

Also, the check valve in the front tank seems to be wide open allowing the gas from the rear tank to return to the front one. This may be causing the rail pressure to be low not allowing the fuel manifold pressure to get to the proper level. This could more likely be the entire problem! I have replaced the pressure regulator and it had no effect at all. I may have to drop the front tank and replace the fuel pump assembly.

This has me scratching my head. Any thoughts?

Id fix that check valve issue first. Also check your fuel pressure and regulator. Check for error codes. Bad injectors are a little uncommon and expensive so be sure before you spend the money.
