Default Iac question

I have the high idle problem. If you unplug IAC it idles fine. I only use truck about once a month. Is it okay to let it warm up then unplug IAC and drive it like that. I gotta pick up a grill this weekend and can't afford the part right now.

Truck is 94 f150 4x4, I6, 5 speed.

My suggestion to you is to take off the IAC and clean it and then reinstall it. When you say the idle is high are you giving it enough time for the engine to warm up? Mine idles high for about a minute or two then returns to normal idle. Especially on cold days. If you are giving it enough time to warm up and it is still idling high clean and re-install. Also pull the codes on the truck and make sure there is not an underlying problem.

It never idles down. I will try the clean and re-install. The question is can I drive it with the IAC unplugged for about 20 miles. I don't use trick much and it's no big deal to let warm up then unplug for as much as I use the truck. Buying the part right now is out of the question.

The grill is free also so it's not like I am spending money on it not the truck.

If unplugging doesnt change the idle then its bad and needs to be replaced unless its just dirty and cleaning frees it up.
