Default I hope this is normal...

I just bought my third Pre-97 last week and it's a 96. It had a bad egr valve and the vac line that plugs in the top of the egr and a bolt in it to plug it. So I replaced the egr today and I went to go start it up and at idle it runs like it has a racing cam in it but it idles at same rpm as before. As soon as I gave it gas it ran smooth. So I unplugged the battery and went out to eat(about an hour) when I got home I hooked the battery back up to see if resetting would be the solution. And it wasn't. What could be the cause of this and how do I fix it. Should I replace the darn iac and see if that helps.

Should also mention it has the 351w and alot of miles on her. I was also thinking about taking off the intake and giving that a good scrubbing?

Looked like the old egr could have possibly been bad for a long time.

You can't reset the computer of an OBDII vehicle by unhooking the battery. You have to use the scanner.

The code was still in there, the computer doesn't clear by disconnecting the battery on OBDII. Has some kind of backup memory.
