Default How hard is it going to be....,

I have a 1989 f-150 4.9l 2wd 4 speed truck that was converted to a c-6 automatic transmission. Well within this year I'm wanting to switch it back to a 4 speed and make a real good truck out of it. Well my question is how much do you all think it will run to get the tranny and other stuff. I plan on possibly restoreing the truck since its in such good shape body wise. I might even put a 351 in it or something.....Anway thx.

not hard, just get your self a junkyard trans, possibly rebuild it, and it should bolt right up.

if it was originally a manual, it should be easy.

The biggest things you will need are a tranny and flywheel, plus the clutch and stuff in there...also, does it already have a clutch pedal, or can you install one...sounds like there is a place since you say it was CONVERTED to a C6...

ya it has a clutch pedal still inside of the truck but they put a spring on it so it kicks all the way down so its out of the way.....but it has the mastercylinder and all the stuff you need to change it back. A couple people said I will have to get a diffrent length drive shaft and a new cross meber also. Can them be found on a junk yard...

yes they can, but as mentioned above, a wrecked donor truck might be easire as you would have all of the parts you need.

Why change it back to the manual? Since you are not keeping it original why not keep the Automatic?
