So im thinking of running straight pipes. but what would i need? and how does it sound? and also is it easy to do and to maintain?

 

year engine and all help but my motto on a v8 or bigger is the best muffler is the one that's not there lol

but straight pipe 4.6 or 5.4 sound great jus whatever you do don't do a y pipe run true duals it sounds a lot better and less restrictive

Seeing as how this is the 87-96 section I don't think he'll have either of those engines lol

 

Still a good point. I'll have true duals with glasspacks on my 302 in afew days. Sounded great on my last truck.

 

yeah I didn't think to look at the year models but even tho if he has a v8 "the best muffler s the one that's not there"

 

it does sound good, but you loose some low end torque doing that, i run a imitation flowmaster 40, dumped behind the cab, less restrictive than stock yet regains your low end torque, trust me youll get tired of straight pipe after awhile, my truck now sound like i have a big block in it lol.

yea, that humming gets annoying after awhile

 

To each their own really. I always liked the noise, even on long trips . Just like the whine of mud tires on the highway, sounds good to me.
