Default How do i remove this bolt

It is an intake on 302 and I can't figure out what kind of head it is or how to remove. All the rest were just regular bolts that cam out easy. I have pics and need help getting it off. Thanks

It is a pain in the *** to get to yes. We didn't have anything long or skinny enough to reach it. What we did was Lift up on the upper intake, and turn it so that it would loosen that bolt. Doing this we were able to loosen it up enough to unscrew it by hand.

It's a Torx bit....

Use a 1/4in drive with a longer extension and it comes right out... done a few and yes its a pain but with a small drive its easy peasy

It's either a Torx or a hex driver, probably Torx 25 or larger. Can't tell much from the picture.

That is exactly his it is done. Don't mess up the aluminum upper intake. Use the method dr_bowtie said to use.

Use a 1/4" socket on a 1/4" drive ratchet with a T40 in the socket. Helps to electrical tape the T40 in place. the bolt comes right out.

If you don't have a 1/4" torx bit you can use a 3/8". You just have to put the bit on the bolt from under the runners and push an extension into it from above. It is a torx for sure though, not a hex.

The 1/4 inch drive fits right on through with no issues - 3/8 was too big, requiring what RocketScott says - and yes, it is a Torx.

I used a bunch of Jerry rigged crap to get to it, just removed it again today and found the Jerry rigged extender deal in my toolbox. It was a torx bit, in a socket that it perfectly fit into, and a 1/4" drive extension, a reducer to 3/8s drive, a toaster oven, three towels, and a spare tire. Came off pretty easy. Hahaha
I want to replace it with a real bolt if possible. Not a freak, like it is currently... I called it that when I removed it too. Hope it feels bad now.
