Default How difficult should it be to draw in wheel studs?

Had to replace the wheel studs on my truck and the new ones Advanced auto sold me are nearly impossible to draw in. Took a breaker bar and pipe and all my weight. Then when finally finished i see it destroyed the threads on the stud. WTF!!!

I don't remember it being this difficult in the past

the studs are getting poorer in quality. And likely "generic" enough to not fit properly. We just did two axles yesterday, and had to press them in.

Any other way risks stretching them, ruining the threads, or not getting them seated properly

What do you use to press them in?

Is there a brand that is still good? Rock auto has a few name brands

To do it properly/easier you need an impact wrench or an air hammer.

Yep. When I did my front end (4x4) I had to remove the studs from my old rotors and into the new ones. It took an impact to get them all the way in.

Default Anti-seize to the rescue

Truck is fixed and took barely any time. I coated the studs with anti seize and they drew right in.
