Default High ouput coil question........

A few months back I installed a excel coil, tried the timing bump. I'm using a basic cap, rotor and wires. Will this coil cause premature wear on these parts?

I believe it will. I think you need to upgrade those parts with the higher performance ones to prevent problems in the future. There is a post here, fairly recently, that addresses this issue. Look for it and I think you will get better info on your question.

MSD has the cheapest cap\rotor, local parts store such as poop boys or advance auto usually carries them, here in NJ anyway.

Honestly, you're not getting the best benefit out of using regular wires with a High Voltage coil.

However, to answer your question, I did use a standard set of wires (Autolite Professional) with a high output coil for a year with no issues, but as soon as I managed to get the wires I wanted, the standard wires came off.
