High idle on startup
Ive got a 1992 with the 5.0 and 5 speed. Whenever i start my truck cold or warm it idles at about 2200 rpm for a good minute unless i give it some gas to get out of the 2200-2300 range, then it goes back down to normal idle about 900 to 800 rpm. Could it be simple tps or iac cleaning or is the engine supossed to do this?? thanks for any imput

Suggest your post would get better feedbacks from the specific model year group 2004 - 2008 Ford F150 - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans, this sub-forum is for the 87-96 model year range, where there was no 4.6L available, just the 4.9L, 5.0L, and 5.8L.
But, not knowing where in the country you are, would suggest with the cooler weather, fast idle at start is normal within reason - that is, not a screaming fast idle. As for the hard start, for our model years here would suggest to measure the actual fuel pressure on the rail and perhaps inspect and clean the idle-air control solenoid. Pulling the computer codes is always a good idea, at least to see whether the computer has flagged anything which may provide clues and directions to go.
