HID Wiring Question
Guys I got a set of 55w HIDs from DDM Tuning. Can you tell me what wires need to match up with what on the plug? There are 3 wires going into the factory bulb connector and all 3 of my new wires are a different color.
Thanks
Thanks
Did the kit not come with a relay harness, specifically configured for the type of bulb socket you have? If not, you bought junk. I'd return it. DDM IS junk in point of fact. Their '55 watt' ballasts are barely 35 watts or so. Bulbs can be mismatched in kelvin ratings, and exhibit very poor QA, terrible alignment and very high UV emissions.
I'm talking kits like these (select the type of socket you have - it will truly be 'plug & play, NO wire splicing sheepdip, lol):

These are at least good quality - FAR better than DDM - if not optimal like a proper projector retrofit, located elsewhere on the TRS site. Recommend you explore the entire site - a wealth of info.
Observe: Your pattern on the left ( if yer lucky; likely to be even worse due to your fluted lenses ). Projectors on the right:

NOW - before you go and think I'm just a big ol' Meanie, here's the answer to yer question on wire colors:

From this thread: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/11...-low-beam.html
Seriously - try and return the DDM crap and order what you need from TRS. You will be much happier with the quality, and you will not need to do any vehicle wire-hacking.
We good?

good luck

Hi thanks for your help but I've had DDM kits in a few different vehicles and have been happy with the quality and price. I used them in my Lexus and in two Corvettes with success never having a problem or compaint. I think putting HIDs in any lamp housing that is not intended for them will blind other drivers somewhat. Yes retrofitting in projectors is the way to go but it is expensive and a ton of work. Are you saying installing your HID kit alone will give me a sharp cutoff line and offer anything over the DDM kit?
I need to tap into the 3 wires on the original headlight connector. Was wondering if someone can help me match up those 3 wires with the 3 on the DDM kit? Thank you

No - never said the PnP kit TRS sells will offer a better pattern, It WILL offer much better quality for folks wishing to run such a kit. That is certain. DDM is junk - and it's not just me saying that. (www.hidplanet.com ).
ANY kit that makes you have to figure out which frickin' wires are which is junk, to my mind.
Did DDM at least provide what their end of their alleged 'harness' pins out to? If so, what are they? We can them match it up to yer bulb socket wire color/function ( see below ).
I build and run retrofits exclusively. If you choose wisely and do it yourself it is not that expensive. And the results are night and day.
Regarding your wire color question - I answered that in my previous post - the schematic and the link - have the info you seek.
From post #2: "High beam is green-black, low is red-black and ground is black ."
good luck

Yes they have a harness
Thanks a lot that's what I was looking for, it wouldn't load earlier
I agree, have installed projectors into lights and difference is incredible. I just think for a 1995 f150 its a bit overkill. If someone was selling them ready in headlamp housings Id consider it but not going to get into all that work. The truth is the light output from HIDs is going to be at least double what it was factory so for $50 I cant complain, the lighting will be incredible. The fact that its blinding other people is what I don't like, and I hope its not that bad for them
