Default Water Pump Replacement 5.0

Guys is this a hard job to tackle?

I have a leak at the waterpump so I am thinking I should replace it instead of just replacing the gasket.

What items do I have to remove to get to it or is it just the nuts on the water pump? Any instructions online?

Would you replace anything else while doing the cooling system?

Thanks!

Usually I replace the thermostat since the coolant is already drained, it's a good time for new hoses and belt while you are at it.

Expect it to take at least four times longer than you think. You know, because of the bolts that are going to break.

There's a bracket that you have to UN bolt that is infront of the right side if the water pump

Never done it on these trucks but have changed several pumps in my day. Yes the fan is bolted to the pump so that comes out, try to loosen the fan clutch bolts before removing the belt (that helps hold it). Like Sean said.... I've heard the bolts for the pump are prone to be seized and snap, hit them with some penetrating oil a few times before starting, hopefully they come out.

You can get a Haynes manual for $20. Not the best but it has enough info to get you through most jobs. Usually all parts stores carry them
