Before you go spending any more money on parts, get yourself a fuel pressure gauge and measure the fuel pressure.

Ive got the same problem on my 94 Bronco. Try replacing some minor things: the fuel pressure regulator, o2 sensor, and maybe something like the ignition module and map sensor.

I know this is an old post but my 2006 5.4 just started hesitating under light acceleration, just seems like it doesn’t want to go, then all of sudden it wakes up and moves. I changed the coil on plugs, TPS, MAF problem still there. No codes at all, not even pending ones. Truck has just over 101,000 miles, COPS and plugs changed about 30,000 miles ago volant CAI, superchips programmer, 4.88 gears with 6” lift and 35x12.5 nitto trail grapplers

I know it's not an F150, but it is basically the same engine (5.0 though). I had a '93 Fox Body Mustang for a little while that did this. My fix was as simple as just pulling the MAF sensor out and spraying it with MAF cleaner. Made a world of difference for however much the can costs. I know not every fix will be that simple, but it's worth a shot and won't hurt anything.
