Default Help Please (Audio)

Hey everyone. My 1991 F150 doesn't have sealed doors, and my aftermarket door speakers hit good and would have a lot of bass if I could seal the doors up somehow. Does anyone know of a free way I could do this? I was thinking cut card board out the shape of the openings and cover the openings in the door and either duct taping them in place or gluing them in place. I would rather duct tape, as ghetto as it may seem because just in case I have to replace something in there it's easier to get too than it would be if I glued the cardboard.

Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about it, I never had problems. If you are really serious about it, take some Walmart sacks and wrap the back of the speakers, but give them some breathing room

I know it will never be completely sealed, but it would sound better with the big gaping holes and everything sealed wouldnt it? Did yours sound better afterwwards and have more bass?

I haven't had a problem with the ones in my 89, but some use foam/rubber speaker baffles, they just sit behind the speakers, seals out water, and I would assume help the sound.

What are you talking about? No car has sealed doors. How would you ever service them? Car door speakers are made for basically open air not a air suspension design. If you really want to then cut a box hole in your door and make a box of wood or fiberglass and slide it into the hole you just cut. But I think its a huge waste of time. If you have rattling issues tighten everything they spray dynamat, bedliner or rubberized undercoating on the inside.

Trying to seal a door is like trying to seal a bucket with 100 holes....
Here is an instructions on a DIY speaker enclosure:
http://www.wikihow.com/Construct-a-S...r-a-Door-Panel
That is quite a lot of work though.
If you really want bass then get an amp and sub behind the seat.
Check CL I bought an amp and truck box with 10' sub for $40.00
It'll give me a back massage....

A decent set of component speakers will deliver great sound, but your just not going to get that kind of hit out of door speakers without the before mentioned speaker enclosures and allot of fab work. If your out for a great project, go to an atv site like Highlifter.com and search their forums for speaker box enclosures. Allot of guys are building their own speaker enclosures out of wood rings, suede cloth material and fiberglass. I've seen this done on door speaker setups and the speakers actually sit just outside of the door frames in a full enclosure using 6" subs. Pretty cool and you can actually get into it and build your own door panels custom designed with all of the features that you want. I've seen some teenage kids on highlifter build some outstanding speaker enclosures. When I get the funds, I'm going to replace my standard door speakers with a set of component speakers and a separate amp and call me happy.

i didnt see any improvement on taping the holes. i added 3 way 6x9's behind the seat and that has added all i need in my truck. but i am getting old and just want clear sound and not super bass. i am working on building speaker boxes that will be part of the seat ( back side ) and give me more room. but i am still working on the design

Get the baffles that go in behind the speaker. They basically turn your speaker opening into a box. Or you could just get a sub, and make your door speakers play only highs and get the best of all worlds
