Default Help please , another check engine light question.

Ok I know you can check the engine codes , by hooking a ground to the STI connector under the hood and turn the key and count the check engine light flashs blah blah. Theres way too many flashes to count or mark down. So my question is can i buy a device that will just read the codes to me. I know I can go to autozone , but I want to go ahead and purchase a unit. Anyone know of any? Its a 94 f150 xlt 5.0. Thanks for answering all my questions guys you all have been a big help.

So you're saying you are having difficulty counting? You've got 10 fingers, save the $30 and use those instead. If you don't have the concentration to count and write flashes then maybe you shouldn't be working on the truck.

AutoZone won't read your codes, they don't do OBDI because it's so simple to do yourself.

Yes, that scanner will work. Notice how the free shipping is for orders over $25 and that costs $24.99, so you will be paying shipping unless you buy something else.

Umm i can count the flashes , theres just so many spaces and flashes inbetween that its hard to. 10 fingers wont work on that pal , tryed writing the flashes down and putting spaces inbetween and all that. But thanks man , and as far as I shouldnt be working on the truck.... I just put a engine in it , while I had it out i had the valve covers and oil pan hot tanked , new oil pump, water pump , timing chain , all new gaskets all the way throughout the motor new head gaskets and all. so Im not a complete idiot like most people that get on here. I just have a question from time to time but I appreciate it no need to treat me like Im retarded because Im definatly not.

I bought a OBD1 Ford reader at an auto parts store for less than $30. Comes with a book explaining the codes. I've used it to diagnose a couple of problems and it works well on my 94 F150.

Sorry, I just couldn't resist. I wasn't trying to be a complete jerk but just a partial one. If you want to do it the easier way then that's fine, I prefer to save money on something I consider useless.
