Do you have trouble finding the gear? Ine day driving downtown i lost first and second. It was the shift forks in the trans. It may be that?

So I confirmed that it was the forks actually the fork hole is egg shaped. I'm lost on why it works sometimes and then neglects to work other times. Is there any way I can fix this as opposed to going new ?

Idk they are stupid, they just wear down. I believe there is three. So im assuming a previous owner may have replaced 1/2 3/4 before. All i did was dropped the trans and dropped it off at a local shop. Paid 100 a fork i believe. Came to 400 for two if i recall. So not overly bad. But in sure it cant be that hard. Its accesable through the topi think ? :s
