The larger one is the air pump for your thermactor (smog system). There should be a port facing the passenger seat that has nothing hooked to it - just sucks in air. The end facing your motor with the hose on it... that hose should lead to the smog pump, which is mounted just below your alternator.

The smaller thing? I have no idea... where do the hoses on that thing lead to? Without being able to see the rest of the engine bay, I can't really figure that one out. Is it part of your A/C system? (usually runs along the back of the engine bay)

the hoses mean nothing that are there i was just experimenting, lol it looks like just an air check valve of some sort, the pump under the alternator has two different ports. one on the side that is bent towards the cab. and one on top facing the passenger fender.

Is your thermactor system removed? There should be a small line running up from your rear (I think) catalytic converter to the back of each cylinder head, then from there it runs along the passenger side of the motor to a little plastic thing, and finally the smog pump.

A lot of people remove all of that - weld the hole shut on the cat or remove the entire cat, plug that back of the heads with a bolt on each side, and just let the smog pump act as an idler pulley. If that's the case, you can remove the thing on the fenderwell and forget about it.

Is the smaller thing attached to something? or is it just sitting there with a couple of hoses connected to it?

If there was nothing at the converter, it's probably been removed. What it connected to the pump below the alternator? If nothing, it's just an idler pulley at this point - the thing on the fenderwell can go away.

What does the other thing connect to?

when i got the truck nothing was hooked up, the hoses i have connected in the pics mean nothing, i was just experimenting on things, there was nothing hooked up when i got the truck. the pump, when running still pushes air out. also when running it smells horrible, which is why i want to hook this stuff back up. i bought the truck when it needed a bunch of work, it didnt run, had no transmission, exhaust was all plugged up (converter). i do not know what anything looked when it was all put together due to it being ripped apart when i got it
