Default Hedman headers?

Hello I'm getting a set of hedman headers from broncograveyard. I'm putting them on my stock 351w. Anyone have any problems with these and would they work with other heads or just the stock ones? Thanks

They will work on other heads.

The exception is if you're looking to go with GT40p heads, which have a different spark plug angle, you might have some clearance issues.

Yes, I am currently using a set of Hedman Headers.

Likes:

Fitment: They fit wonderfully and I like their tubular design (if that makes sense).

Dislikes:

Thin tubing (on older headers): I emailed Hedman awhile back about whether or not they were going to make elite shorty headers for our trucks and they responded that they have since upgraded all of their headers to the same specs as their Elite series, which would mean that all Hedman headers now come with 14 gauge tubing instead of 18 gauge.

Flange Fitment (on older headers): I had to have my flange machined true because the surface was not flat. However, if they truly did upgrade their headers to the same specs as their Elite headers, this should be a non-issue.

I like Hedman, but you should inspect them prior to installation. And with their tubular design, more than likely, it'll clear the plugs on the P heads.

Hope this helps.

I forget what gauge they are. I just got them in today. Did you use the bolts and gaskets that came with them? And how do I find out what heads I have? I'm looking into maybe putting a cam into and want to see What one would work. Thanks

Yes you'll use the bolts they send. Buy a set of oem gaskets the ones exhaust companies send you are crap and will blow/crack in a few hundred miles. I threw the ones that came with my hooker headers always then again I work for them so I know the gasket is crap.

If you have factory heads I believe all f150s 5.0/5.8 use e7 heads from 89-96.
Far as I know gt40p heads are explorer only though I could be wrong.

My manifold bolts are pretty rusty soo maybe changing heads or doing work to the stock ones if the bolts snap. Did you notice any power gain after the headers?

Pb blaster and an impact will be you're best bet at not snapping any I got lucky with a 20" pull bar and working slowly.
Pulling real slow and when it breaks loose tighten and loosen it back and forth any time it got tight to help break the rust.

I would say yes but at that time my truck had been sitting and hadn't been drove for a while so I can't really say.
Not sure with a 5.8 but you may have to hammer your heat shield on passenger firewall for that header to go in all the way I had to with my 5.0

My engines still in my truck and it's hasn't moved since November Bcuz I have a blown rear. So that's next on my list really. I got all the parts it's just soo dam cold here in pa right now lol. Had a shoddy mechanic put gears in for me and 900 miles later the rear blew. But I don't think I'd be able to get a impact in there. I'll try a breaker bar with a Cheater bar. Hopefully.
