Default Headers and Full Exhaust

New to the site and have lots of questions. I apologise in advance as I am very new to all this exhaust stuff. I have 96 f150 4x4 and I just bought all the parts for the "6 litre tune up". I've heard it's easier to change the plugs while doing the headers as well as there's more room. My plan is to but the summit racing short headers. Would a custom made 2.5" y pipe with one high flow cat work well? Also I want to then increase the diameter to 3" pipe the rest of the way out. How do I do this as there isn't a muffler or high flow cat that I have found that is 2.5 in and 3 out. Also what type of cat or muffler would anyone recommend? To clear it all up - Summit shorty headers into 2.5 y pipe with 1 high flow cat then 3 in piping all the way out witg a good muffler. Single exit. Sorry for the long post I'm stressed out cause I can't find what I'm looking for. Thanks

You're not going to gain anything stepping up to 3" after the 2.5". Can you find a 2.5 into 3" Y pipe? That way, you just buy a 3" converter, etc. behind the Y pipe.

What's a converter do? Will that allow me to step up to the 3"? Or would it just be easier to run 2.5" through the whole system? I'm looking for the best power I can get at the moment with a nice deep tone
