Default headers

so i currently have what I think is a 40 flowmaster set up on my truck, but I would like to get rid of both the cats and put some headers on. anyone know where I can get a kit to do it myself? I do want to get rid of the cats. do they sell a kit where I will be able to replace that section of the exhuast myself and aviod the high shop fees?

what type of hearders should I be getting? I am not looking to spend 600 bucks on headers but I dont want junk either. I want a deeper throated sound and increased HP. all your advice has been great thus far.

thanks-

John

Summit or Jegs...and you'll want full tube headers....I prefer Headman

I would suggest hedman long tube headers, I've got them ony 5.8 and I lovem. Ceramic coated of course. It's worth the extra money to get coated, brings the heat down and keeps them looking good for years. I think they ran me 275, right around there. I've never found an exhaust kit for those trucks, I've got an 89 as well and I had to go to a shop that would cut the cats off, most won't. Cost about 400 bucks for mufflers and the whole system.

I agree I have them on my 88 GM and I love them....especially the flair end on the collector...needs no gasket and never leaks...
