Default gremlin in truck

My 95 F150 (5.0) made a noise I took to be a bad starter soleniod the other day and wouldn't start. Just clicking. I put on a new starter and once again, nothing but clicks. Thought I had run down the battery somehow and tried to jump it with my '86. Couldn't get it to turn over, just some clicks, then nothing. Noticed that my volts would drop to nothing when I would turn the key to Acc position, then try and start it. Then I couldn't even get it to click. Turned on the headlights to see if they were strong or what. They barely showed-while I was attached to the other truck battery. I messed around with the jumper cables to see if I didn't have them hooked up alright. Suddenly my headlights glowed bright and strong and I tried again to start the truck-stronger clicking from the starter-then dead, no headlights, no underhood light. Nothing. Prior my interior lights would work-but then nothing. Also, a relay(?) under my dash now keeps clicking-even with the ignition off. I had to pull the #8 fuse to get it to stop-it also stops if I turn the headlights on-not that they come on. And my door ajar buzzer makes a sickly noise-when it comes on. My truck doesn't seem to be getting a charge from the jumper cables. Smoke even started coming off to positive terminal.

Anyhow-It's very weird to me, but I am ignorant. It got too dark to check my fusable links. I'll have to dig my Haynes guide out of my storage unit to figure out where they all are. I checked all my other fuses, but they seemed O.K. If anyone has any other suggestions or would like more details as to the electrical funkiness I am experiencing I'll be happy to try them or give more info. I live in a remote area and it will cost me a small fortune to have my truck hauled off to a repair shop, so all suggestions will be considered.

Fortunately my '86 F150 runs O.K.-for an '86 I haven't maintained for years! Unfortunately I haven't registered it for years either. Just sneak it around after dark to haul trash to the dump.

Cheers!

Your battery is shot....replace that for sure amd check again...if there is still a prob check your alternator....My batteries went dead in my PSD and I replaced them only to have the new ones go and found out that my bad batteries cause my alternator to work harder....plus the alternator was full of sand from playing in the dunes at glamis....once the new alternator was in with new batteries it was perfect again
