Gearing
I am going to regear soon, and was thinking either 3.08 or 3.55
Which would be better? I am trying to regain power lost from my new 33in ATs.
I'm running the 300 and m5od
Also the Ford LS, I have heard mixed things. If i can get LS and non LS for the same price, should I go for it?
Thanks
Connor

Eh, suggest you already have either the 3.08 or 3.55 - most likely the 3.55.
If you have the 3.08, you'll likely want to consider the 3.55 or up.
If you have the 3.55, you'll likely want to start considerations at 4.11 or up.
IMO, going from a 3.08 to only a 3.31, or from a 3.55 to only a 3.73 is a lot of work for a marginal increase. If'n it were me - be looking hard at the 4.11s either way.
Keep in mind with 4WD - need to do both front and rear axles.
Understand that you're never going to get a lot of power from a 300. Torque out the wazoo, yes - but sheer horsepower, no.
Not aware of any significant LS problems that would prevent me from that choice.

We have a great junkyard here, and i am probably going to swap out the whole axle assembly rather than change the gearing.
I had the 3.55s and the pinion bearing went out so I decided to try 3.08s. The 3.08s suck, I was hoping for better gas mileage but gained none but still lost power. The 3.55s were good but I was experimenting. I have the 4.9 and 5 speed, but I only have 31" tires. I would recommend something numerically over 3.55, when I change my pinion bearing and get the 3.55s back in I'm going to try something higher numerically with the other rear. Higher numerically is lower geared, lower numerically is higher geared. I also swapped entire rear ends, there were a lot with leaky pinion seals so watch for that.
