Default fuel tank switching problem

I bought a very nice 95 eddie bower 6 cylinder extra cab short bed 2 wd auto. The front tank had been replaced. I replaced the rear tank and pump, but when I switch to the rear tank the truck slowly dies. Everything runs beautifully off of the front tank, but I'd like to have the extra capacity be usable. This truck sat for several years and only has 90k on it. Runs and drives great.

Any ideas?

If you haven't used the tank selector switch in a while it gets dirty and won't let full voltage to the pump. You can open it up and clean the contacts.

yes, what sean said. I had problems with my rear tank gauge reading empty all the time, and bought a new switch completely off topic because it was broken into the dash, and the new clean switch fixed the broken gauge!!
if not i would guess that maybe there was a kink in the fuel line or fuel assembly that was installed with the tank? and its not getting enough gas? or maybe there is something causing the line to loose vacuum with the rear tank running.

Can you advise on bypassing the selector valve? my buddy has a 87 or 89 farm truck and the valve is bad and rediculously priced! Can we just bypass the valve and and operate off one tank? If so can you advise on process?
