Fuel Pump Question
Have only owned my truck about three Months and this is the first vehicle I've ever owned with dual tanks. 1994 XL 4.9L my question is do both tanks have submersed fuel pumps? And if so, If the front fuel pump failed would you be able to flip the switch to the rear tank and get her started and continue on your journey? How do you all manage your two tanks, Run one nearly empty then fill it up and switch to the back tank then repeat the process on the next fill up. Or do you stick mainly with one tank?
Thanks' in advance.

i find that it is easier to fill them both, then switch tanks when the first one gets down to half a tank, and fill up both tanks again when the second tank is half empty.
that way you work both pumps and you keep fresh fuel in both of them at all times, fuel these days is only good for 30-60 days before it starts breaking down. ( funny how we pay more for cheaper to make crappier fuel)

Based in looking at the parts catalog at LMC I would say you have a pump in each tank. As far as how you use each tank that is up to how you choose to run, I have heard of people running just off the rear tank and keeping half a tank in the side for reserve using it every few months to keep it fresh, However your idea is just as good.
