Default Fuel Pump problem 'i think'

hey guyz ..
i own 93 F150 XL, everyone knows that it has two tanks. when the front tank is running a sound appears just like the sound that its running out of gas or its empty but when the rear or "Secondary" tank is on there is no sound.

can any one till me what is the problem ?? is it the fuel pump ??

and does each tank has its own fuel pump ??

yes each tank has its own pump, you should hear a slight buzz from the tanks, it might not be the pump, it might be the harness that goes to the tank, also it might be the selector switch, a little testing should be done before pulling down the tank.

Does it still run on both tanks? A noisy pump usually means ithe pump is about to die or you're low on fuel.

Me personally, I'd run it until it dies. You do have another gas tank so if it does die you're not stranded. The fuel level sending unit is a common problem with these trucks. My gauge doesn't work right for either tank, and a lot of others say the same.
