Default Found an interesting part interchange.

It involves window motors. My recently acquired 88 F150 has windows that quit working.

I found out that a foxbody Mustang window motor will work in some F150's. Not sure of what year range of F150's it will work in, but it worked for my 88.
Here's how I found this out.

My driver's side worked when I bought it, but recently quit. Of course the first thing I did was break out my voltmeter and test the plug. When I hit the button, the motor was seeing voltage, so that pretty much told me that was the motor. I don't have 60$ for a new motor, so I left it alone for now. So I moved on to my next task, replacing the door latch bushings.

I went down to my shed where I keep all my spare parts (its' all Mustang stuff) and some tools, in search of a T50 Torx bit and stumbled on a couple of foxbody Mustang window motors I had laying around. I could probably build a car with all the spare Mustang parts I've got, I've had more foxes than I can count on one hand. Anyway, it looked exactly like the F150 motor, except the body was smaller. The gear was the same, the mounting was the same, the plug was the same, it just had a smaller body. So I brought it back with me, took the driver's side door panel back off and put the Mustang motor in. It works great.

All the passenger side needed was new gear plugs or bushings or whatever you call them. Well I finally have two working power windows.

So if anyone has access to cheap 87-93 Mustang window motors or have any laying around, they will work in some of these trucks. I didn't think they would before I looked at them because they show different part numbers at the parts stores. I think it's because the body is smaller on the Mustang, because the door is more cramped. I doubt the truck motor would have room in a Mustang though.

Just thought this might help someone.
