Ok so I looked all over here to get an answer but nothing so maybe yall can help me out. I have a 1989 f159 that I'm rebuilding and I finally got down here to fort Campbell. I hauled it 9 hr drive whew not fun. Anyways it's a 5 speed and it dis this before I hauled it here but when I take off or shift into up to 3rd afraid to take it any faster right now right front bearing is goin out bad. But it makes this weird noise when you take off it's like a metal on metal grind sounds like something is twisting and metal is rubbing not sure. Haven't had much time but took a look at the transmission today just the bolts see if something snapped didn't see anything. But it's rlly bad on take off also in reverse. I have no clue. I just need a few ideas so I can check it out this is my first rebuild doing it all my own so it's gna be slow n I'm sure I'll have plenty of more questions, and hopefully answers for other people. Any input would be great if you need more explanation just ask me. Thanks

Are the motor or transmission mounts bad? Maybe the twisting of the engine on take off and reverse is rubbing the exhaust or the frame and rattling.

Foundout what it is it was the transmission mount. Has to bolts and one was snapped off. And also replacing front wheel bearings today.

Yea, I need to change my motor mounts and probably my tranny mounts too. It's on the list along with plenty of other things that need changing. When tax returns come around I may be parting the truck out or selling her anyhow though

If you would, post back on how the wheel bearings went. I need to change my front pads and rotors, and that requires the wheel bearings too. I've done them on rangers, but not on the half tons and I'm curious as to how much beer this job will require.

Well the only reason I might is because I have my dad's old 94 ranger that he passed down to me, then it got passed to my brother, then when he was getting rid of it I bought it back from him. So it has a lot of family history. But the motor was bad and the transmission needed to be rebuilt so I went ahead and pulled them both. When tax returns come back I'm planning a 4.0 transplant. Once I get that done I won't need 2 trucks and the Ranger just has more sentimental value.
