beleive it or not I found out why i couldn't find the check engine light. Someone pulled the light bulb and socket out of the dash. So after a lot of research on line I figured out how to check them w/ a test light under the hood. I pulled 11, 11, 33, 33 not sure why it threw the codes twice but 11 is system pass, 33 is faulty egr valve.
I pulled the egr off and it was stuck. so after cleanig and freeing it up I cleared the codes. started the truck up ran till normal operating temp, shut off and pulled codes. Got 11, 11, 11, 11,
Tomorrow I'll take it on the road and see what it does. A stuck egr valve has all the syptoms that my truck had missing, knock, poor pick up so we'll see
