Yep, just swapped them out and off I go. It worked for the van and it's pretty much the same. The van hose even curves around the truck box the same way, but I had to tweak it a little because the truck crossmember is different than the van and was slightly in the way.

I did some research on the pumps at work. The same pump fits both v8s, and the L6. What I haven't found out yet is if the bracket matches the same also. I'm looking into doing the mod on my truck just for the kicks of doing it, and for the peace and quiet while I drive. From what I found out, for all the ford purests out there, it's a GM pump if you want to think of it that way, but it comes natively on the E series vans, so the idea is what you want to make of it... I called it a GM pump too because it's the same design. Besides, there are some things that GM does better than Ford... like breaking down.

I drained mine completely and replaced the fluid with Amsoil Synthetic trans fluid. No noise and runs like new.

I'll bet it doesn't steer as well as mine though.

I think it steers too well. Instant response at any speed.

Now imagine your truck steers twice as well, that's my truck. Yea buddy, my truck steers twice as well as yours. Believe it 'cause it's true.

After I ditched the whole smog/air setup My truck chews the outside tooth of the belt off also. that is pretty cool with the new pump, it also looks like you don't haft to pull the the pulley to replace the pump as well. Besides that anyone who owns a Ford and actually think the stuff outside of the engine is of the highest caliber of design and planning, please go ahead and complain about a different pump! :-) I don't care if it came off a honda, if it makes it easier and seems to work better, do it to it!

I have a 92 with only 41,000 miles on it but the steering is noisy. Actually, I hear the whine going straight down the road. At any rate, I am not a mechanic. Is it hard to drain the fluid? Sounds like an easy fix. Thanks!
