Default F150 dies at first

Had my truck for 3 years and its always done this, now that i got some money saved up want to fix it. Whenever i first start my truck up after 4-5 hours or a day, it either starts but rmps drop and it dies after bout 5 secs, or itll stay started but be at about 1300 rpms for a minute or so. Itll always crank right back up and i know alot of old trucks do it, just wondering what exactly causes it

Have you pulled the idle air controll valve off and cleaned it? Have you pulled codes?
