nice find, dont usually look on the coast because of rust but it looks good, and a decent price.

yes the 351 has the same bolt pattern as the 4.9l. the 460 has a big block bolt pattern.

So your telling me there are basically two ZF5's?

one for small blocks and one for big blocks?

that is my understanding, i may be wrong but iv always been told the 460 trans cant be used on the 351s and 4.9ls because there different bolt pattern, iv also been told the 7.3l trans cant be used on the 460s.

EDIT just did a lil Google search, its the bell housings that are different. along with the clutch. other then that the transmissions appear to be the same.

i looked at that 1 a week ago, was pretty solid but the dealer acted like he was hiding something so i walked away then, but seprice can check it out, he may have better luck. was a really clean truck.

you could also look for one with a 5.0 obviously, but they are fairly rare

didn't know they made any 9th gens with the 5.0? thought they only made them in like 89 and 90 or something.

i believe they did, but youre most likely not going to see one without looking for one, HARD. they were a tad bit underpowered for a truck that size

only reason i know about them is because i seen someone on another forum posting about his, he had an 89 i believe.
