Currently I have a leak in my catilylic converter. To comply with smog standards I plan to replace the part. What might be a cheaper exhaust system that will also pass smog that I can use? Any suggestions?

The aftermarket ones are nowhere nearly as good as the original. So don't spend too much. Usually a new A/M one will get you through the E-test you need it to and maybe even the next one too but you'll probably be replacing it in a few years to get you by a later test.
The only ones that last 20 years are the original equipment ones - so budget according to your future expectations.
